Battery cage eggs collect eggs efficiently and they are designed for ease of management
Cage free versus battery cage eggs
A cage free is a housing system where the hens are allowed to roam freely within a barn or other enclosed spaced. One type of cage free is called pastured or free range. These systems allow the hens to roam freely outdoors where they can forage for food and engage in natural behaviors. Another type is called enriched, which means that those hens are kept indoors but have access to perches, nesting areas, and other environmental enrichments. Cage free hens generally have significantly better live than those confined in battery cages. The ability to lay their eggs in nests, run and spread their wings is tangible benefit that should not be underestimated. Most cage free hens live in very large flocks that can consist of many thousands of hens who never go outside
The vast majority of cage free hens live on farms that are 3rd party audited by certification programs that mandate perching and dust bathing areas. While, battery cage eggs are eggs that are produce in a battery cage system. They are large structures that house many hens in individual cages. These cages are typically made of wire mesh and are stacked on top of each other. The hens in battery cage eggs do not have access to the outdoors and they are typically not given any environment enrichment, such as perches or nesting area. Each battery cage eggs confines several chickens in very close proximity with one another. The floors of the battery cage eggs are sloped so that when eggs are laid they roll out of the cage into a trough
Hens housed in battery cage eggs spend almost all of their lives in the cage, which prevents them from taking part in natural behaviors such as dust bathing, foraging, or even walking and the  eggs provides the same amount of space and resources to each bird, creating a standardized environment that can help maintain consistent conditions and production rate and they are designed for ease of management, controlled environment and automated systems which makes it simpler for farmers to monitor and care for the hens, as well as to collect eggs efficiently
